Once again, Blizzard finds itself confronting a familiar phenomenon, which it has encountered in the past with titles like Diablo Immortal and Warcraft III: Reforged. This time, Diablo 4 is the target of review-bombing from countless furious hardcore fans!
The trouble began after the recent release of patch 1.1.0 for the game this week, just ahead of the Season of the Malignant.
The contentious update aimed to improve the game’s balance but, instead, appeared to nerf all classes across the board. The most significant blow came to Sorcerers, making them essentially useless in the end game. Unfortunately, the update, intended to address gameplay issues, instead sparked intense resentment among dedicated players.
In this way, the game’s subreddit has become a virtual battleground, as furious fans are now threatening to uninstall Diablo 4 and directing their outrage towards Blizzard for creating an “unfun” gaming experience.
As anticipated, the fans’ anger has now found another channel for expression: the Metacritic page dedicated to the game. Within a short span of time, a deluge of negative reviews has painted the User Reviews section of Diablo 4 in vivid red, currently holding a rating of 2.7 for the PC version, and the score continues to plummet rapidly.
The majority of these reviews express disappointment with the game’s repetitive nature, with players requesting refunds and accusing Blizzard of disregarding the dedicated Diablo fan community.
Numerous individuals label the recent patch as the “most disastrous in gaming history”.
It is worth mentioning that the responses are so strong that Adam Fletcher, the head of global Diablo community development, has already stated that Blizzard will be holding a live stream soon to directly address the community’s concerns about the turmoil.
